Short-Term vs. Long-Term Healing and The Last Day the Wind played in the Trees by Tobias Lars Sedona Soul Counseling - November 1st 2000

Short Term vs. Long Term Healing

Suppressing/Denying emotions is the power position on Earth today as far as running institutions, governments, corporations etc. This is not to say that God, Love, Heartfulness isn't in there as well - of course it is - it is the ancient game, "Good vs. Evil", Denial vs. Openness, Heartlessness vs. Heartfulness. Jesus said "My Kingdom is not of this world". Lucifer (heartlessness) offered him to be his right hand man and rule the Earth. Jesus said no- knowing how complete the heartlessness that would rule the souls of Earth would have become.

It might have been the "successful" path for Jesus to accept Lucifer's proposition. Jesus could have become the material King of this world, all the earthly power anyone could have imagined. But what the price...lending his Heart to support the heartless, control over souls, plan of Lucifer...and what ultimate destruction of our Creation. Short term it would very likely have looked very good. Mussolini made the trains run on time in Italy and the people were happy. Hitler made Germany strong and proud again, but again at what price. If our only measurement is how much money it creates, how much envy (admiration) from our peers, how much earthly power in running governments/organizations, how beautiful our body "looks" by taking artificial hormone stimulants), how clean our house is (by using harsh chemicals), how green our lawn (by using harmful pesticides and fertilizers), how big our vegetables, how much milk our cows produce ( using harmful antibiotics and growth hormones), etc....then we are lost in the short term "success" ,the facade, how does it look, in approval seeking from others.

"Success Worship" may be a good description of western society today.

This doesn't mean that being spiritual means not having fun, having money, having pleasure, enjoying life, food, sex, the earth. The difference is, is it heart/love based or control/fear based. Do we cooperate, listen work together with our co-workers, or do we dominate, intimidate and control our subordinates with fear. Do we measure each other primarily by what car we drive or honor each soul as a valuable piece of God. Do we take from the earth without gratitude or honor or thank her as a co-player.

In our paths back towards healing, towards awakening to our souls potential, if we measure ourselves by how it "looks" on the surface only and don't feel deeper and we opt for this shallow success at any cost to others, ourselves, the earth, we are doomed to crash and burn. Without the foundation being made in Love, with God, the success is really no success at all. We see the stories everyday of unhappy workaholic millionaires, corporate heads, etc. and increasingly now stories of successful individuals with abundance and freedom that have built their abundance on a foundation of Love.

If we can be patient with ourselves as we are headed towards our healing it will be easier. When the voice inside tells us that we are stupid, slow, why aren't we more "successful" by now, etc...we can say; because I'm healing myself thoroughly this time, I'm not rushing anymore, I'm building a solid foundation and I trust God and my heart to be able to bring my dreams into reality. And on the way of our healing we have fun as well, enjoy the path of our healing.

I know that the power of intention, of belief (faith) that we are children of the Creator and that He/She is personal, is our best friend, is our closest helper, is unstoppable. It can be easy, fun, effortless flow of letting in abundance and our heart's deepest dreams into our lives. And it's OK if we aren't there yet fully, we are learning and building our long-term success.

The Last Day the Wind Played in the Trees

Evil,*

came to visit me,

He was scared,

by the Men,

with the big Truck,

and the Chainsaw,

that came to

put in the Block Fence,

that will increase

the Property Values.

But first they have to

Cut Down my trees,

the ones that were

the reason

I decided to live here to begin with.

Now as if saying Good Bye

the wind is playing in the trees

for the last time.

(*Dr.Evil-is my neighbors cat, named by her 5year old twin girls. He’s all black and still a kitten.)

This morning a green and yellow bird came to visit me also. I had only seen him once before when Joy and I were up in Sedona and then I noticed him because of his bright colors as he sat in one of the apple trees one morning.

Evil is watching, under the fence, the man clean his chainsaw, in preparation for his work. He’s cleaning it very thoroughly, making sure every link is oiled. I can’t help but think that this man is himself a well oiled link in the events that create today. He’s Hispanic, and doesn’t speak much English.

The owner of the townhouse I live in, is a big investor, with over a hundred properties. I met him once, He was cordial, efficient, goal oriented it seemed to me. I tried once or twice to reach him after that, to say that I would be glad to help improve his property with new tile or paint if they would buy the supplies. But he was always busy. when I first moved in.

The lawn grew nice in our common areas the first year. Then they stopped watering and the grass died.

Now there’s talk among the Association of doing away with the grass and replacing it with crushed rock. It’s easier to maintain.

The birds woke me up at five thirty this morning. I usually stay up late so it was unusual for me to wake up that early. Maybe they knew. Because, Now they are singing, a Requiem for my trees.

The man is still fixing and oiling his chainsaw. I asked them if they could start with my neighbors tree. He’s not home. I see him sometimes in the parking area. He works for a computer company. Last winter his parents came down from Idaho and stayed with him. His father wanted to hear me play guitar and talked about how good the fishing is in Idaho. I never did play the guitar for him. I was afraid he wouldn’t like my kind of music.

And now I’m writing this,

saying Good Bye

on this the Last Day

The Wind Played in my Trees.

Larry from the Property Management Co. called, he’s the New Management, because they’re going to be better than the old management. We talked on the phone after he sent the very nice introduction form letter, telling me it was important that I call as soon as possible so he could stop by and meet me and introduce himself and see if there was anything that I needed to have done on the property, "...and thank you for letting us provide your leasing needs for you." That was several weeks ago.

Well, he called this morning and asked me if the “tree guys” had stopped by yet. I said yes they were here right now. I still haven’t met Larry. But we will as soon as he has time.

The Block Fence Builders Inspectors had been by and had written in their Report that there were four trees that had to be removed in my backyard to make way for the new block fence. I have two mulberry trees and three mimosa trees that offer shade and make me feel nestled in. The two mulberry trees are a foot and a half from the fence, so I told Larry that I had three trees up against the fence in my backyard and maybe the other two were far enough away from where the new block fence should go that we wouldn’t have to cut them down.

Now they’re here, they’ve already cut down my neighbors tree. And now they are here,

With the pick ax and shovel first, to expose the roots. They are hard workers, they work very fast.

If I had a tree cutting down company I would try to find guys that work as hard as they do.

I’ve heard they send most of their money back home to Mexico, to their loved ones, to their wives and children and grandmas and grandpas.

The chainsaw is sitting on my patio,

waiting...

Last year the Townhouse Association cut down the trees behind my back gate because they blocked the sun that the grass needed to grow.

Beautiful grass had grown there the year before. The grass used to catch the mulberries from the mulberry tree, the ones that ripened right on Tax Day on April 15th every year. The grass was soft, green, and was a perfect place for the ripe berries to land without getting bruised. My friend and I would eat the mulberries with cream. This year after they cut down the trees to give more light so the grass would grow, no grass grew there to catch the mulberries. There is still no grass growing there. I remember trying to talk to the man who was in charge of cutting down those trees last year. He was an older man, smoking and having a hard time breathing, all the while directing the young work men to hurry up. I remember trying to ask him not to cut too much off my trees since they gave me shade in the summer months. He didn’t really want me talking to him it seemed.

The men are taking turns right now with the pickax digging up around the roots of the two mimosa trees. These are the two smaller trees, the ones that were like mirror images of each other as they grew. The ones that would move in the breeze together and rub against the old wooden fence and wake me and Joy up on the mornings that we left the window open. The old wooden fence that won’t bring the property values up as much as the block fence will.

One of the men is sitting and resting in my chair on the back patio. He’s wiping the sweat from his face. They are really very hard workers. I wonder how much they get paid. And I wonder if they are ever thanked for the jobs they do.

They younger man started the chain saw now. He just cut the roots off one of the two mimosa trees, the roots they exposed with the pickax and shovel.

The first mimosa tree is now cut in half, the top half is down on the ground. It’s partner is next. The workers have stopped. The roots seem to be presenting a small problem. They are deciding what to do.

I used to have wild strawberries, really, wild strawberries, exactly the same kind that I remember picking and eating as a young boy in Sweden. What are the chances that they would appear outside my townhouse front door here in Phoenix Arizona. But they did, and they would grow under the bougainvillea outside my front door amongst the soft green shade grass. That was two years ago. Since they cut down the trees so the grass could grow better there hasn’t been any grass growing there for the wild strawberries to hide in. So now there is no grass or wild strawberries.

Now both the mimosa trees are gone. The trunk of the last one just fell to the ground, hard. I could feel it hit.

I wonder where they go. Where do the left over dead trees go.

The last tree is much bigger. I have a jasmine bush and a small bougainvillea that I planted next to the big tree. I ask the leader of the men if we can dig them up and save them. He says sure.

One of the men asked me if I wanted at least the branches cut off of the two mulberry trees that are left. No, I said, I like those trees.

I wonder if Ron the owner knows about the trees today. I told Larry at the Property Management Company that if they could save the mulberry trees that it would probably help the property value. He said yeah, OK, and then he got another call...

I’m hoping that they won’t have to cut down the last two trees in my backyard,

to make way for the Block Fence,

that the Association says will increase the Property Values,

On this, the last day the wind played in the trees.
